The history of the band known today as O'Doyle Rules, is complex and known by few. It all started the year of 1995 on a stormy winter night when Scott D. and Aaron out of boredom created the legendary (in our own minds at least) band known as THE WHITEBOYS.

This was a mean and jerky band who played poopy music and annoyed many
neighbors. After The Whiteboys were formed Matt and Scott T. decided
to jump on the bandwagon and start a band too, called Ahrudis.
Together our bands played our first show at a Mormon Church and were quickly
asked to stop playing, and so the legend began. *Special note. The Original Whiteboys Guitarist was Justin Moralis (WHO on the Kill Oh Jay recording i say "Justin Moralis on lead guitar" or something like that cuz i havent listened to that cd in so long. haha so people have often wondered what i said there. but he played that solo. Then he quit the band, cuz we were playing at a mormon church and he was a jehovah's witness, and it was against his religion to play there haha. We then got a fellow by the name of Vanilla to step in. he was really good at gymnastics. He was one of the nirvana people. he quit the band to pursue his interests in ripped jeans and roller skating. He currently attends U of H) Justin is probably working for the man now.

After the church incident our guitarist (Vanilla)
for The Whiteboys quit, and since no one else was willing to play our retarded
style of music we had to settle for Scott T. Well to make
a long story short, we all got sick of each other and broke up every week
forming new bands. Scott D. went to form a band called The
Axcidents which ruled all bands. The rest of The Whiteboys
went on to join up with Matt and got a girl singer named Jessica, and started
a band called The Inhibited. Neither of the two bands had
any ambition so they just fizzled out, and were through before they even
got started. So Scott D., in his quest to find a band that could
play crappy music decided to put his awesome bass skills aside and reform
The Whiteboys as a four man band with new member--Matt--playing bass and
Scott playing guitar. We combined all our retarded songs and made
up a few more, and decided it was time to play a show as the new improved
White Boys. On our first show all the other bands canceled - wouldn't you
know it. But a cool bunch of homies called Eye Against ran
and got their equipment and opened for us. So our first show wasn't a complete
flop, and all our big 30 fans loved it.

After that show at Fitzgerald's we faced discrimination from all the clubs, because we were called The Whiteboys, and all the clubs weren't down with our cool jive. So with tears in our eyes we new it was time to change the name we loved so greatly. Through months of no shows we searched for a name then one day when the whole band went to Buzz Fest we thought for at least 30 minutes and came up with O'Doyle Rules.
O.k., back to the story. With our new "cool" politically correct
name, shows came upon us instantly. We got a decent show at The Abyss,
then after hours of bugging people we got to play at The Skalloween Show
at Fitzgerald's with The Suspects, and Middlefinger. That show got
us up and moving and then the shows poured in. haha ROCK ON. Well then sad
times struck the happy go lucky guys of O'Doyle Rules. We had to
kick out Scott T. But I have to thank Scott Terry, because I don't think we'd be playing today without him. Scott Terry and Matt were on the swim team and choir together (REAL COOL DUDES!!) and Matt said like 3 words back then. a year. so without Scott Terry and Aarron I would have never met Matt.

Then we got the Vent-O-Lators guitarist Marq to join our band. That only lasted a few shows though he would return later. anyway when marq left it changed the band for the better. Scott learned to play guitar good enough and Matt and Aaron learned the art of back up vocals. We played a
poop load of shows and gained a little recognition for ourselves.
However, Aaron kept having conflicts and couldnt play key shows like with
less than jake, and then he couldnt go on tour, so Matt and I decided it
was best to look for a new drummer. This is where Denny comes in.
Denny learned all our songs and went on our fun week and a half california
tour, and after it was over he decided he liked our band and we decided
we liked him, so he was our new drummer. We then recorded A Bad Case Of Loser Denial and played like 100 shows or so that year. we were punk rock dork core idiots. We played anywhere and everywhere and we have played so many crap shows with 10 people there it is insane. and we still do TO THIS DAY. isnt that Just freaking awesome. ok well later after denny joined the band a soul name Jeremy Pollet came into our lives. he asked us to be in Missile Command, and rock out with him. so we decided what the hey, it will be fun. WE dressed up like retards and spazzed out on stage, but we never practiced and lived in different cities, so that lasted a year and we usually sucked at shows, so we just stopped doing it haha. Jerm still does his solo acts and Mr Sinus Theatre so check him out if youre in austin.
OK well after that i dont know what happened. I guess Marq rejoined the band and we recorded This Coke's Gone Bad. Matt went on his mission soon after this but sometimes Ralph from THanx but No Thanx would fill in and then Greg from Hatchback in New Orleans filled in on bass for a tour to California. That was probably the most fun tour we had. This is Greg and Marq in california.

Then Marq moved to austin, and we really didnt play much. I got my friend Miles to fill in on bass and we played the texas warped tour dates one summer and a few other cool shows. Then we got denny's brother Zach to play with us and we toured florida and recorded "In The Garage" for a weezer tribute. I pretty much just went to college during the two year period matt was gone. Denny and I recorded most of "The Get Signed Demo/A lot of people go to college for seven years" around this time too.
Thhennnnn matt came back from his mission and so i was hoping he'd still want to play again after spending two years in Guatamala speaking spanish and pooping water. and he did. It wasnt long before it was back to the SAME OLD GANG. Me, Matt, and Denny all acting retarded and playing music again. I was still at Texas State (Formerly Southwest Texas) finishing my degree, so we never got to practice. But one semester after being tired of school i moved home, and we actually practiced a couple times a week. We wanted a bigger sound so we added Nick Peterson on guitar, but he quit after about 5 or 6 months - so all the songs we were writing with 2 guitars we had to scratch and we just started over. We wrote "No Place Else To Go" in two months, and recorded it in seven days with our cool friend Brandon Vanderford in Roanoake, Texas at his studio.
After the cd came out everyone loved it. It was by far our best cd. I think this made Denny's girlfriend afraid we'd get signed or want to tour a lot, so Denny quit the band. Denny says it was because he didnt like playing music anymore. i don't really believe that. But everytime a band member quits we get bigger and stronger and thats what happened again.
WE tried out about 6 drummers before Bill tried out and he knew all the songs almost perfect.

SO HERE WE ARE TODAY. Bill goes to Baylor, Matt Goes to Sam Houston, and i graduated Texas State - so now im just in houston. so once again were spread out and cant practice. but some how i think it will work out in the end. GOOD THINGS ARE FINALLY HAPPENING.
ok stay tuned
until more history is made

Oh yah that reminds me--the history of the squirrel. well this poor
lil guy ran out into the street under my car while i was going to a chinese
food buffet, and instead of just letting him get eaten by birds we decided
to take a picture of him to forever preserve the memory of this nice animal
who died so tragically. poor little squirrel.
